Homes for Our Troops

A Team Effort - A New Home for Marine Chris Santiago

Marine Sargent Chris Santiago lost both his legs in service to his country.  The Volunteer EcoMize Team, working with Homes for Our Troops, supplied and installed the insulation for the walls & attic.

The new home was transferred to Sargent Santiago and his family in Key Ceremony attended by all the contractors who helped make the home possible.

The Homes for Our Troops New Home Program provides newly constructed, specially adapted homes designed for maximum freedom and movement and the ability to live more independently at no cost to the veterans we serve.

The specialized homes go beyond ADA compliance. They feature single-level, open floor plans, roll-in showers, roll-under countertops, cook tops,  and sinks, and other standard accessibility items. Depending on the severity of the injured sustained by the veteran, the homes may also include such specialized items as lift systems, keyless door entry, and voice-activation controls.

They have completed hundreds of new homes throughout the country.
